Chris Miller is Associate Professor of International History at Tufts University. In 2022, he published the critically acclaimed book Chip War: The Fight for the World's Most Critical Technology.
In addition to his work at the university, Miller has produced an extensive body of writing. In Chip War, Miller explains why the microchip is the world's most critical resource – "the new oil" – and how the economy, geopolitics and military are deeply dependent on it. The New York Times described the book as a "nonfiction thriller", while The Financial Times called it riveting and named it Business Book of the Year for 2022. Miller's interest in Russia has also been the basis of several of his books. In Putinomics, he examines how Putin has shaped the Russian economy. In We Shall Be Masters, Miller turns his gaze towards Russia's sphere of interest in the East, whereby the country’s relationship with China will undeniably play an important role in the future.
Chris Miller holds a Bachelor's degree in history from Harvard University as well as a Master's degree and Ph.D. from Yale. He advises investors on geopolitics, technology and macro matters at the consulting house Greenmantle. Miller contributes frequently to newspapers and magazines including the Wall Street Journal, Foreign Affairs, Foreign Policy and many others.
